Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg has confirmed that Australia will tour Pakistan for a white-ball series early next year, adding that bilateral cricket ties between the two nations are gaining positive momentum.
Speaking during an online press conference, Greenberg expressed optimism about the upcoming tour and emphasised Cricket Australia’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with Pakistan.
“I think it will be a good tour of Pakistan again,” said Greenberg. “The series against Pakistan is an important part of our schedule.”
The CEO noted that both boards have held constructive discussions not only for limited-overs fixtures but also for potential red-ball series, as part of efforts to deepen cricketing ties and create more opportunities for bilateral contests.
Greenberg also turned his focus to the Big Bash League (BBL), expressing a strong desire to see more Pakistani players participating in Australia’s premier T20 competition.
“We would welcome as many Pakistani players as possible to the Big Bash League,” he said. “Pakistan players are very popular in the community—there’s no doubt about that.”
He acknowledged that talks are ongoing with PCB regarding players’ availability, and he’s hopeful that some top Pakistani cricketers will feature in the next BBL edition.
“If good players from Pakistan come, they will definitely enjoy it here. The league will be very good for their teams and franchises because of the quality they bring,” Greenberg added.
Australia last toured Pakistan in 2022, marking their return after 24 years. Greenberg said that tour helped rebuild trust and open doors for regular future engagements, reinforcing the idea that international cricket is thriving once again in Pakistan.
