Pakistani actor, producer and television host Fahad Mustafa has appealed to Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb to reconsider current cinema operating hours.
Taking to Instagram, Fahad shared a copy of a formal letter dated June 3, 2026, in which he requested a review of the existing closing timings for shopping malls and cinemas.
He pointed out that most cinemas in Punjab operate inside shopping malls and are directly affected by early closure policies.
According to the actor, the restrictions are creating challenges for newly released films that rely heavily on evening and late-night audiences to generate box office revenue.

Addressing the minister, Fahad said that a modest extension in cinema operating hours could help boost ticket sales while benefiting cinema owners, film distributors and workers associated with the entertainment sector.
He noted that many moviegoers can only attend screenings after work, making late-evening shows an important source of revenue for cinemas.
Fahad further argued that longer operating hours would not only support local films but also help businesses connected to cinemas, including hospitality and entertainment services.

He also stressed that extended timings would offer greater convenience to audiences and encourage more people to visit cinemas.
While making his request, the actor appreciated the Punjab Government's efforts to support the creative industry and praised initiatives aimed at strengthening Pakistan's film sector.
Referring to projects such as Film City, Fahad said such initiatives have been encouraging for filmmakers and artists and expressed hope that the government would continue supporting the industry.
