A man shot dead his elder brother and his sister-in-law in the jurisdiction of Humayun Police Station in Shikarpur for “honor”, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

Humayun Police Station SHO said that the incident took place in village Allahabad, saying the younger brother expressed his suspicion that wife of his elder brother had illicit relations with her neighbour.

After a flare-up, he decided to kill his sister-in-law and also his elder brother.

Soon after receiving the report of the incident, a police team reached the crime scene and after taking the dead bodies into their custody, they shifted them to Kot Sultan Hospital for autopsy.

The victims were later identified as Obaidullah and Lateefa Khatoon.

The accused after killing the couple escaped from the scene. The SHO said that the police team has cordoned off the entire area to arrest the accused.

The SHO further said that the police after registering a case of murder against the accused started formal investigation. He said that the accused will be arrested soon.

In Pakistan, ‘honour’ killings continued to claim many lives every year, perpetuated by deeply ingrained societal beliefs about family dignity and shame.
