Investigators have decided to hand over the probe of weapons recovered from Mustafa Amir’s murder suspects to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to sources, CTD will investigate how accused Armaghan obtained prohibited weapons. The suspect’s house was found to contain an American-made sniper rifle, an MP gun, an Israeli-made rifle (Uzi), and over 2,700 bullets of 9mm, MP, and sniper guns.
Meanwhile, co-accused Sheraz denied confessing to the crime before the court, claiming police were pressuring him to confess to the murder.
Appearing before Judicial Magistrate South Karachi, Sheraz Bukhari stated under Section 164 that “I am a witness in this case, not an accused. I saw Armaghan kill Mustafa Amir.”
The co-accused in the murder case also added, “I will testify but not confess. The police are forcing me into a false confession and pressuring me.”
After that, the judicial magistrate rejected the investigating officer’s plea and ordered Sheraz to be presented in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) according to legal procedures.
On the other hand, the FIA has written to Sindh Police to record statements of officers who raided Armaghan’s house. The FIA team will revisit the house to gather further evidence.
Investigations have also revealed 11 FIRs against the accused, including threatening a citizen (Sahil police station, 2019)—dismissed after a settlement and firing at a tanker (Darakhshan police station)—also cleared after a compromise.
The accused is an absconder in a case of threatening a lawyer at the Boat Basin police station.
Other cases included a firing outside a house and issuing death threats (FIR in Darakhshan police station), beating and deceiving a citizen over a car sale (FIR in Gizri police station), cases of illegal weapons, police encounters, and attempted murder in AVCC police station.
According to the report, two narcotics cases against Armaghan were pending in the ANF Court, and the next hearing is on March 12.
A court has summoned Armaghan on March 15 in the Mustafa Amir kidnapping case, registered at Darakhshan police station.
It is worth mentioning here that Mustafa went missing on January 6, and his mother filed a report the next day. The case took a turn after a ransom call was received on January 25.
A raid on February 9 led to a violent standoff and the eventual arrest of Armughan, key suspect, who later retracted his claim of disposing of the body in Malir.
Further investigation revealed that Armughan, with accomplice Shiraz, murdered Mustafa after a dispute over a girl. Authorities are now seeking the girl’s testimony, with efforts underway to contact her through Interpol.
