Punjab CM Maryam launches free laptop scheme for students

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday announced to distribute latest Core i7 laptops among 110,000 brilliant students of the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said that she faced imprisonment but did not advise youth to create law and order situation. She said that she prefer to provide laptop to students instead of advising them to involve in violence and anarchy.

The initiative also includes 2,000 laptops reserved for minority students. The scheme is open to students who have completed their matriculation or intermediate education.

Provincial Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat, while announcing the launch of the laptop scheme, stated that under this initiative, 110,000 students will receive the latest generation laptops from the Chief Minister of Punjab.

Provincial Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat said the students of private educational institutions can apply for laptop scheme through online.

He said that during one hour of inauguration 

Rana Sikandar Hayat said that 65 percent merit was allocated to BS students while 85 percent to medical students.

He explained that merit will be determined on the basis of total marks obtained in intermediate examination.

Earlier, in January 2025, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has inaugurated the laptop scheme for students in Faisalabad.

The distribution of laptops is expected to begin after Ramadan 2025, with the first shipments already arriving in Pakistan. Ceremonies for the distribution will be held at various locations, where the laptops will be handed over as part of the Honhaar scholarship programme.
