A big order has been given to the same company again in the laptop scheme, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to sources in Higher Education Department, laptops will be purchased through direct contracting instead of open tender.
Punjab government will give contract to NRTC for the purchase of laptops.
NRTC will be the contractor for another 70 thousand laptops in the current financial year as well.
Direct contracts have been allowed after amendments to the rules.
The cost of the scheme has increased from Rs10 billion to Rs27 billion.
If NRTC's performance is good, more orders will be given.
