Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Akram Raja said on Tuesday that all cases registered against the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan are false and will eventually be dismissed by the courts.
Speaking at the Dahgal checkpoint near Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi where Khan has been incarcerated for more than 2.5 years now, Raja claimed that the allegations against the PTI founder were baseless and politically motivated. “There is a limit to lies, but lies being told against the PTI founder have no limits,” he said, adding that one by one all cases would “fall apart.”
He referred to the Toshakhana and Al-Qadir Trust cases, maintaining that neither the PTI founder nor his spouse, Bushra Bibi, had committed any wrongdoing. According to Raja, these cases are not being properly heard because “the truth would come out” if full proceedings were allowed. “When the cases are heard on merit, they will have to be cleared,” he asserted.
Raja described the regional situation as “extremely worrying and terrifying,” saying the country was at a critical juncture in history. Without naming specific authorities, he alleged that key decisions affecting the nation were being made without public knowledge or meaningful parliamentary input.
“There is a war that has been imposed on this entire region,” he said, referring to ongoing tensions involving Afghanistan, Iran and several Arab states. “Muslim blood is being shed, and property is being destroyed. The entire region needs leadership with a vision.”
He stressed the need for dialogue, economic welfare and unity within the Muslim world, saying the PTI founder’s vision was based on these principles. “We must decide whether this region will remain a sight of blood and fire forever, or whether stability can be brought,” he said.
Raja also addressed speculation about possible mass mobilization, cautioning that political movements are not simply triggered by calls for protest. “You think a call will be given and millions will come out — it does not work like that,” he remarked, pointing to what he described as harsh conditions and state restrictions.
He said nation-building requires unity and collective purpose. “When a nation truly stands united, nothing can stand in its way,” he added, describing the current period as a “historic moment.”
Expressing sorrow over reports of the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Raja termed it a moment of grief and said it was a violation of international law. He claimed that members of Khamenei’s family, including his wife, granddaughter, daughter and son-in-law, were also martyred.
He said a PTI delegation visited the Iranian embassy to offer condolences and recite Fateha, while funeral prayers in absentia were offered across the country for the deceased leader.
Raja concluded by reiterating that Pakistan stands at a decisive point and called for careful assessment of the situation to steer the country and the region toward peace and stability.
