Member of the Indian National Congress and former minister Saifuddin Soze has said there will be consequences for India if it blocks the flow of rivers’ water to Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
In a statement, he has said that water is a lifeline for Pakistan because it is used for drinking and agricultural purposes.
“And if India diverts the flow of water, the states of Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir will be completely submerged,” he has warned.
The member of Congress has further said that the violation of the Indus Waters Treaty by India will amount to a declaration of war against Pakistan. “The international community is closely monitoring the tensions between India and Pakistan. From the very beginning, Pakistan’s stance has been that it has nothing to do with the Pahalgam terror attack and it was a false flag operation,” he has added.
Soon after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, in which 26 tourists had lost their lives, India, besides announcing other measures, had also announced the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty that came as a bolt from the blue for Pakistan, which termed it a declaration of war by India.
