Six more persons, who had been shifted to hospitals in Karachi after receiving injuries in an oil tanker blast in Noshki five days ago, died on Friday night, bringing the total number of people dying in the incident to eight, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The deceased were 18-year-old Salman s/o Akhtar, 17-year-old Wazir Ahmad s/o of Nazeer Ahmad, 26-year-old Dur Muhammad s/o Faiz, and 25-year-old Abdul Basit s/o of Muhammad Rafiq.
The bodies have been shifted to Edhi Home Sohrab Goth’s mortuary.
As many as 24 persons who had been seriously injured were shifted to Karachi via a plane and were admitted to different private hospitals.
Two days ago, two of the injured, namely Tayyab Shah and Jahanzeb, had passed away during treatment.
An oil tanker had caught fire and exploded in Noshki on Monday.
According to Deputy Commissioner Amjad Soomro, the tanker was parked at a truck depot when it caught fire. As firefighters attempted to extinguish the blaze, the tanker exploded, leaving several of them critically injured.
Among the injured were four police officers who had been helping to evacuate nearby citizens.
Many victims sustained severe burns, with some suffering burns over 70 to 80 percent of their bodies.
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind stated that over 50 people suffered burns in the incident. “The fire was so intense it engulfed the fire brigade vehicle at the scene,” he said.
