Police in Lahore have arrested a six-member gang allegedly involved in the illegal trade and transplantation of human organs during an operation in the Manga Mandi area, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the sources, the suspects were taken into custody near Multan Road, close to Wazir Palace, following a targeted raid conducted by local police.
The group is accused of running an organised network engaged in the unlawful removal and sale of kidneys.
Investigators said the gang allegedly targeted vulnerable individuals, offering them money before deceiving them and removing their kidneys, which were then sold for profit.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Qasim, Fayyaz, Maqsood, Riaz, Iqbal and Mureed Hassan.
Police reported that a significant amount of cash was recovered from the suspects during the operation.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is under way to uncover the full extent of the network.
Senior Superintendent of Police Saddar, Abdullah Imran Cheema, said those who play with human lives do not deserve any leniency, adding that strict legal action would be taken against all those involved.
