Lahore has once again ranked as the world’s most polluted city, raising fresh concerns over public health in the provincial capital, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
According to the latest global air quality index (AQI) data, the city recorded an AQI of 176, placing its air quality in the “unhealthy” category and posing risks, particularly for children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions.
According to the ranking, Jakarta followed closely in second place with an AQI of 173, while Delhi ranked third with a reading of 163.
The report also listed Cairo and Dhaka among the top five most polluted cities globally.
Environmental experts have repeatedly warned that sustained exposure to such pollution levels can lead to serious health complications.
They urged authorities to take immediate and long-term measures to curb emissions and improve air standards.
