What could be described as a horrific and despicable act, a landlord and his accomplice in a suburban area of Kot Mithan in Rajanpur on Friday chopped off a leg of a cow, who had strayed into his fields, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The incident caused anger in the area.
Police said they had registered a case against two people and arrested on of them named Riaz son of Abdul Ghafoor.
Soon after hearing the news, teams of the livestock department took the animal to a hospital where they provided it treatment.
A spokesman for the police said that the culprits deserved no mercy.
On the other hand, Rescue Officer Muhammad Aslam said that a team of Rescue 1122 also reached the spot and provided treatment to the cow.
