Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says government is actively working for the safe return of Pakistanis detained by Israel from the Global Sumud Flotilla, especially former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan.
He was discussing the issues related to the Middle East Situation and Ceasefire in Palestine during a telephonic conversation with the Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman on Friday. The Prime Minister said that we are in constant contact with friendly countries and international organizations to ensure the release and safe return of our citizens.
He said that Pakistan does not recognize the Israeli state, nor does it have any diplomatic relations with it. Shehbaz Sharif said that the Pakistanis detained from the Global Sumud Flotilla will be safely brought back home at the earliest.
He emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in Palestine and an immediate end to the ongoing massacre of Palestinians. He said that stance of Pakistan on the Palestine issue is firm and unambiguous.
Shehbaz Sharif further said that Pakistan has always raised its voice in support of unarmed Palestinian brothers and sisters on every international forum and will continue to do so. He added that Pakistan has always strongly advocated the Palestinian cause before the international community.
During the conversation, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan's support for the establishment of a Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
He said that eight Muslim countries are actively working towards a ceasefire in Palestine and expressed hope that these efforts will soon bear fruit, bringing peace and fulfilling the long-standing dream of an independent Palestinian state.
Both leaders also discussed the ongoing situation in Kashmir and the Prime Minister said that the federal government will continue to play an active role in promoting peace in Kashmir.
