Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has indicated that action will be taken against Awami National Party (ANP) leader Aimal Wali Khan for what he described as an irresponsible statement regarding the Field Marshal, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Talal Chaudhry said Aimal Wali Khan’s remarks were reckless and intolerable. He emphasised that the Field Marshal undertakes foreign visits not for personal reasons but to fulfil national responsibilities.
Talal Chaudhry underlined that Pakistan’s recent diplomatic achievements were the result of the Prime Minister’s partnership with the Field Marshal.
“Aimal Wali’s statement is irresponsible and cannot be tolerated. We will take action against this mistake and negligence,” Talal Chaudhry declared.
He further said that Aimal Wali’s political standing was well known, pointing out that because of his reckless politics and statements, he could not even win a councillor’s seat in his own province (Khyber Pakhunkhwa).
The state minister for interior accused Aimal Wali of being out of touch with the people, adding that the public does not support his politics or performance.
“Aimal Wali Khan loves Afghanistan more than Pakistan,” Talal Chaudhry alleged, recalling that voters had rejected his party in the elections.
Talal Chaudhry said that such statements should not be politicised, especially when they involve matters of national interest.
He also remarked that no one would be allowed to desecrate the sanctity of the press club. He concluded his interaction by noting that he was speaking to journalists under the direction of the Speaker.
