Security forces arrested 23 suspected terrorists and facilitators during a large-scale search operation in Lower Kurram following a deadly firing incident on a passenger vehicle that left six people martyred.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Kohat Abbas Majeed Marwat confirmed that a joint operation, led by RPO Kohat and DPO Kurram, was launched in Mehora, Ahmed Khan Kalay, and surrounding mountainous areas after the tragic attack in Ahmed Khan Kalay.
“So far, 23 alleged facilitators and terrorists have been taken into custody, while a large cache of weapons has also been recovered,” RPO Marwat told media. He added that house-to-house searches are being carried out with the support of a heavy contingent of police and security agencies.
The RPO said that terrorists’ hilly hideouts are also being combed, vowing that those behind the heinous attack will be brought to justice. “The terrorists will not be spared under any circumstances. No one will be allowed to disturb regional peace,” he stated.
The operation remains underway in various parts of Lower Kurram.
