A district and sessions court in Islamabad has granted bail to Hassan Zahid, the accused in the alleged abduction case of TikToker Samia Hijab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Accused Zahid was granted bail against surety bonds worth Rs20,000 on September 1, according to the documents available with the channel.
The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Aamir Zia directed the accused to cooperate with the investigation, and the case will resume on September 9.
In his plea, Zahid maintained that he 'is innocent and alleged that the case was registered against him to harass and blackmail him'.
Yesterday, he was remanded into police custody for five days in another FIR for harassing and torturing Samia.
Police produced the suspect before Magistrate Yasir Mehmood Chaudhry. During the hearing, the judge questioned him about the incident. In response, Zahid admitted his wrongdoing, saying, “Sir, I made a mistake.”
Investigators had requested an eight-day physical remand, arguing that a vehicle, a pistol, and cash were yet to be recovered from the accused. However, the court approved only five days, directing police to complete the investigation within that period.
The case surfaced after Samia Hijab lodged a complaint with Shalimar Police Station, stating that Zahid had been stalking her for several days and persistently trying to pressure her with unwanted advances and gifts.
According to the FIR, on the evening of August 31 at around 6:30 p.m., Zahid allegedly attempted to abduct her outside her residence.
The incident gained public attention when CCTV footage of the alleged abduction attempt went viral on social media, prompting swift police action that led to Zahid’s arrest.
In a video statement following the incident, Samia expressed grave concern for her safety, claiming her life was in danger.
She appealed to authorities for immediate protection, stressing that she had been receiving persistent threats from the accused.
