Bull-run lifts Pakistan Stock Exchange to record high

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) skyrocketed to another record high on Wednesday as the index topped 152,000 mark amid improving economic stability and decreasing inflation in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

As trading ended, the PSX’s benchmark KSE-100 Index closed after gaining 1,226.39 points or 0.81 percent to reach 152,201.87 points.

Of the total 476 companies traded today, share prices of 241 companies went up and of 204 went down, while 31 remained unchanged.

The market performance reflected investor confidence and a strong momentum across key sectors. Participation remained robust, supported by gains in the banking and fertilizer sectors in anticipation of continued economic stability and corporate earnings growth in the coming quarters.

Reporting the latest trade numbers, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) announced a trade deficit of $2.88 billion in August, a 9% month-on-month contraction compared with July's deficit of $3.15 billion.

Earlier on Tuesday, the KSE-100 Index had maintained bullish trend gaining 1,004.36 more points, a positive change of 0.67 percent, closing at 150,975.48 points.

As many as 479 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 226 of them recorded gains and 232 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 21 companies remained unchanged.

The three top trading companies were B.O. Punjab with 174,386,202 shares at Rs 17.58 per share, K-Electric Limited with 52,716,329 shares at Rs52.47 per share and F. Nat Equities with 39,775,924 shares at Rs6.64 per share.

Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited witnessed a maximum increase of Rs283.80 per share price, closing at Rs 32,984.80, whereas the runner-up was Siemens (Pakistan) Engineering with Rs133.37 rise in its per share price to Rs1,692.35.

PIA Holding Company LimitedB witnessed a maximum decrease of Rs642.50 per share closing at Rs 26,657.50 followed by Hoechst Pakistan Limited with Rs237.28 decline in its share price to close at Rs 3,789.35.
