A controversy has erupted in Pakistan’s boxing circles after the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) and the Pakistan Professional Boxing Federation (Progrine) jointly declared Usman Wazeer’s recently claimed title as “fake,” accusing him of building his entire career on fixed matches and weak opponents.
In a press statement on Wednesday, the Progrine alleged that Wazeer, currently ranked 86th in the world, had relied on paid fights against elderly and weak boxers to maintain an unbeaten record.
The federation claimed that all of his 17 victories to date had been engineered, with opponents allegedly bribed to lose deliberately.
According to Progrine officials, Wazeer spent between $5,000 and $15,000 per fight to secure favorable outcomes.
It was further alleged that referees and judges were bribed, while rival fighters were offered sums ranging from $1,500 to $5,000 to ensure his victories.
The federation estimated that around $160,000 had been spent on his previous 16 fights, while an additional $3,000 was used to secure his latest title bout.
In total, approximately $163,000 (equivalent to PKR 45–50 million) has been invested in what the federation called “fake and purchased achievements.”

“Usman Wazeer is not a world-class boxer but rather a self-styled champion who has created a record through weak opponents, fake titles, and fixed fights,” the Pakistan Professional Boxing Federation stated.
They further alleged that Wazeer was being artificially promoted as a national hero using public funds, arguing that such recognition was “misleading” for both the sport and the country’s youth.
