In a joint operation, FIA's NCB Interpol and Immigration authorities arrested a wanted fugitive at Lahore Airport as he attempted to flee the country to South Africa, officials confirmed on Sunday.

The suspect, identified as Arsalan Ashraf, was wanted by Punjab Police for the past four years in connection with an attempted murder case registered at Windo Police Station, Gujranwala.

A Red Notice had been issued for his arrest by Interpol Islamabad, which led to the high-alert operation by FIA teams at the airport.

According to authorities, Arsalan was intercepted at the departure lounge before boarding his flight. His arrest was made possible through close coordination between Interpol Islamabad and FIA Immigration Lahore, who had been tracking his movements.

After his capture, the accused was handed over to Punjab Police for further legal proceedings.

Officials said the arrest demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to cracking down on fugitives involved in serious crimes, especially those attempting to evade justice by fleeing abroad.
