Lieutenant General (Retired) Muhammad Saeed has officially taken charge as chairman of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).
Following his appointment, he met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad to discuss WAPDA’s ongoing projects and future development plans.
Lt. Gen. Saeed brings nearly four decades of military experience to his new role, offering extensive expertise in leadership, strategic planning, and institutional reform—skills that are expected to strengthen the authority's operations in Pakistan’s water and power sectors.
Over the course of his career, he held several key positions, including serving as the 39th Chief of General Staff of the Pakistan Army. His other notable assignments include Corps Commander of V Corps in Karachi, President of the National Defence University (NDU), and Director General (Analysis) at the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
He has commanded an infantry brigade, regiment, and division, and also served as Military Secretary to then Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
As Director General of Rangers (Sindh), Lt. Gen. Saeed led major security operations in Karachi, working closely with police and intelligence agencies to improve law and order. He also advocated for legal reforms to combat street crime.
In 2021, he assumed command of V Corps, Karachi. He retired with the distinguished military award of Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military), recognizing his outstanding service to the nation.
