Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, logistics, and industrial development, aiming to unlock economic potential and boost regional connectivity, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan and Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan. The two sides held detailed discussions on expanding economic engagement and removing barriers to trade.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, Bangladesh expressed interest in importing Pakistani coal and limestone, while Pakistan is exploring options to import pineapples and export mangoes to the Bangladeshi market.
Talks also covered trade in textiles, minerals, and halal meat, underscoring a diverse set of sectors ripe for collaboration.
A major outcome of the meeting was the mutual agreement to ease the trade visa process for businesspersons, a step aimed at facilitating smoother and faster business interactions.
Federal Minister Jam Kamal Khan emphasized that deeper economic ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh could usher in positive economic transformation in the region.
Both sides also committed to promoting sector-specific business cooperation, recognizing the potential for joint ventures and increased trade volume.
“The two countries can play a key role in driving regional growth by leveraging their economic complementarities,” Jam Kamal noted, adding that more structured dialogue would follow in upcoming months.
