Urwa Hocane has put her weight behind a social media influencer advocating for women’s rights guaranteed in Islam.
Taking to Instagram, the actress shared a reel originally posted by an Islamic content creator who discussed how Islam gives comprehensive rights to women but lamented that many Muslim societies often fail to implement them.
The influencer emphasised that Islam stands firmly for justice and equality for women, but cultural norms and societal failings have often distorted that message.
Urwa endorsed the message, writing in her story, “This is so important. Thank you for voicing it out. May the change land soon."
She added a dove emoji to symbolize peace and hope. Her post was widely appreciated by fans, many of whom praised her for using her platform to highlight religiously grounded gender justice.
The video outlines various rights Islam provides to women, including financial independence, the right to education, and the right to consent in marriage and questions why these aren’t widely observed in many Muslim communities today.
The influencer also slammed the selective application of religious values, urging a return to the true spirit of Islam that promotes fairness, respect, and dignity for women.
Urwa’s support highlights the growing trend of celebrities using their reach to amplify meaningful social messages, particularly those grounded in religious education and reform.
She was previously caught in the public's attention over pregnancy rumours. However, the actress responded playfully to fan questions about whether she’s expecting her first child.
Sharing a stylish photo of herself with a visible bump, she captioned it: "Just a food bump for now, carefully edited for clickbait!"
She followed it up with a thank-you note for all the well wishes, writing, "Thank you for the prayers and congratulations. Taking this opportunity to reconnect with the warmest hearts."
