Hazara Express derails, hits sand hump near Lodhran

Hazara Express derailed at a railway station near Lodhran in the wee hours of Tuesday as the brakes of the train failed and it hit the sand hump on a loop line, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Two bogies of the Hazara Express were damaged after the derailment at Galaywal Railway Station near Lodhran at 2:00 am.

According to details, the train overturned hit the sand hump and overturn after its engine’s brakes failed. Luckily, no loss of life was reported from the site of the accident. 

Soon after receiving the report, Station Master Gulzar Hussain and Deputy Superintendent (DS) Railways reached the spot. Later, the train departed for its destination after an alternative engine was arranged 

Earlier on July 19, 2026, train services were suspended in Sindh after 17 wagons of a freight train derailed near Wahab Shah railway station in Matiari district.

The Pakistan Railways officials said train services on both up and down tracks were suspended after the incident, adding the line could remain closed for up to 24 hours.

Two relief trains, along with railway engineering staff, have reached the site and are now working to clear the derailed bogies and repair the damaged sections of track.

Railway officials said the derailment caused extensive damage to the railway line, with the tracks broken at several points along the affected section, slowing efforts to restore the line.
