The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recovered Rs2.452 trillion during the second quarter of 2026, taking its total recoveries in the first half of the year to a record Rs5.414 trillion, according to its latest performance report.
NAB said the Rs5.414 trillion recovery was the highest recorded during any six-month period in the bureau’s history.
The report said NAB’s total recoveries between March 2023 and June 2026 had reached Rs16.938 trillion.
During the second quarter, the bureau recovered 1,078,283 acres of government land in Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab and Islamabad.
NAB also returned Rs42.303 billion and other assets to more than 24,365 victims of housing and financial fraud cases.
According to the report, NAB Sukkur, in coordination with the Sindh Board of Revenue and the provincial Forest Department, recovered 853,678 acres of land belonging to the National Highway Authority and the forest and irrigation departments. The land, valued at Rs1.01 trillion, was transferred to the provincial government.
NAB Balochistan recovered 209,544 acres of forest and other government land worth Rs604.64 billion. The recovered land included areas linked to the Coastal Highway, Gwadar Industrial Estate Development Authority and Hingol National Park.
NAB Karachi recovered 11,422 acres of government land valued at Rs467.11 billion that had allegedly been unlawfully allotted to housing societies and individuals.
NAB Lahore recovered 1,909 acres belonging to the Punjab Cooperative Board for Liquidation and other government departments, valued at Rs288.29 billion.
The Islamabad-Rawalpindi regional office recovered 810 acres of Capital Development Authority welfare plots worth Rs66.63 billion from different housing societies, while NAB Multan recovered 920 acres of government land valued at Rs2.76 billion.
The bureau said it was also moving towards a completely paperless e-office system and introducing artificial intelligence-based tools for investigations.
