In pursuance of its decision to install 3,000 electric vehicles charging stations at different spots, including motorways, in the next five years, the federal government on Thursday ordered that connections be given to all power distribution companies, including the LESCO, for the purpose, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The government has tasked the National Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (NEECA) and the Ministry of Industries with installing 3,000 such stations in the next five years.
As many as 40 stations will be set up at different sections of the motorway, connecting Karachi to Peshawar.
On the other hand, sources told the 24News TV channel that so far, 168 applications had been received by the NEECA, while the Authority had approved 113 applications to greenlight the installation of stations.
The tariff rate levied by the government on these stations is minimal.
Interest rate will also be fixed for those installing stations.
