Kazakhstan has expressed keen interest in importing 50,000 tonnes of potatoes from Pakistan, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The ministry stated that this development became possible after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a conversation with the President of Kazakhstan. Following the contact at the highest level, progress was made on facilitating potato exports between the two countries.

A timeline has been set for the export of potatoes from April to June 2026. The Ministry of Commerce said Pakistani exporters will ensure the supply of quality potatoes to Kazakhstani importers during this period.

For this purpose, consultations on technical and commercial matters have also been completed between the relevant authorities of both countries.

The ministry highlighted that Pakistan’s agricultural sector, particularly potato production, holds significant export potential. It added that Kazakhstan’s interest in importing large quantities of potatoes is a welcome development for Pakistani farmers as well as the country’s export sector.
