Pakistani nurses have a chance to work in Germany as the country faces an acute shortage of trained nursing staff, the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) said on Sunday.

According to the BEOE, Pakistani nurses holding a valid diploma or degree can apply for positions in Germany, but the first crucial step is obtaining official recognition of their educational and professional qualifications from German authorities.

The statement said that a nursing degree or diploma from Pakistan is not automatically recognised in Germany. Each application is assessed individually, including a review of the curriculum, training period, and practical skills. Candidates are generally required to have a recognised nursing qualification and German language proficiency up to B2 level.

If there are significant gaps between Pakistani and German standards, candidates may need to complete additional training or pass a knowledge test.

The BEOE advised interested applicants to seek guidance exclusively through the official German government portal, which provides details on whether nursing is a regulated profession, the relevant provincial authority, and the steps for approval. A link to the official portal has also been shared for the convenience of citizens.
