A rare hog deer believed to have strayed from India entered a village on the outskirts of Narowal district was caught by the locals, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.

According to residents, the rare species deer wandered into Sakroor village near Narowal, drawing the attention of locals who began chasing it.

Frightened by the crowd, the deer ran into a nearby mansion in an attempt to escape.

Eyewitnesses said several residents entered the mansion and managed to catch the animal.

However, despite the unusual and sensitive nature of the incident, no official from the Wildlife Department had reached the site at the time of reporting.

Locals expressed serious concern over the deer's condition, stating that the animal appeared extremely distressed, with its heartbeat reportedly racing due to fear.

Residents warned that hog deer are highly sensitive animals and can suffer fatal heart attacks when subjected to extreme stress.

Citizens urged the Punjab Wildlife Department to immediately reach the spot, safely take custody of the deer, and ensure its protection.
