A leading astronomer has predicted the likely dates for the start of Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, and Eid-ul-Adha in Pakistan based on astronomical calculations, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
According to renowned astronomer Dr. Faheem Hashmi, the moon for the holy month of Ramadan is expected to be sighted on February 18, making the first day of fasting likely on February 19.
Dr Hashmi further stated that the Shawwal moon is expected to be visible on March 20, and if the forecast holds true, Eid-ul-Fitr will fall on March 21.
Regarding Eid-ul-Adha, the astronomer said that the month of Dhu al-Hijjah is likely to begin on May 17, while Eid-ul-Adha is expected to be observed on May 27, based on scientific and astronomical data.
He clarified that these dates are predictions based on astronomical observations, and the final decision regarding the start of Islamic months will rest with the official moon sighting authorities.
