Veteran Pakistani actress Saba Hameed has won praise from viewers after an emotional scene from the drama serial Doctor Bahu went viral on social media.
The clip shows Saba's character, Farheen, overhearing her husband, Dr. Shah Nawaz, speaking negatively about their decades long marriage during a conversation in Dr. Rubina's office, also known as Dr. Shah Nawaz's ex girl friend.
Dr. Shah Nawaz says he spent 36 or 37 years trying to turn his wife into someone he believed was worthy of him.
Shah Nawaz described their marriage as a wasted part of his life.
Unaware that Farheen is listening, he continues to express regret over his relationship.
Devastated by what she hears, Farheen later confronts Dr. Rubina and reflects on how the remarks have shattered her perception of her life.
She says she had always believed she was a perfect wife and mother, only to realise that the life she considered complete was built on an illusion.
In one of the scene's, Farheen tells Dr. Rubina that she no longer wants to be "perfect" but instead wants to become someone like her.
Drama serial, Doctor Bahu follows the story of a doctor who enters her husband's family as a daughter-in-law and struggles to win acceptance from her controlling and manipulative father-in-law, Dr. Shah Nawaz.
Determined to maintain authority over every aspect of the household, he creates obstacles whenever family members act against his wishes.
Saba Hameed, one of Pakistan's most celebrated television actors, portrays Farheen in the serial, while the drama continues to explore family dynamics, emotional manipulation and the challenges faced by women within a controlling household.
