The Anti-Human Trafficking Circle of Islamabad has arrested a man allegedly involved in smuggling women to Saudi Arabia under the guise of Umrah visas for the purpose of organised begging, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Sardar Muhammad Adil, was apprehended during a raid conducted in Islamabad.
According to officials, Adil was part of a trafficking network that lured women with promises of jobs abroad and then sent them to Saudi Arabia on Umrah visas.
Once in the Kingdom, the women were reportedly forced into begging, staying for nearly 10 months despite their visas having expired.
The women were eventually deported back to Pakistan for overstaying, and during the investigation, they identified Adil as the person responsible for trafficking them.
