The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched disciplinary proceedings against 10 health officials, including the former Director General of the Health Department, over alleged embezzlement in the procurement of medicines during the caretaker government’s tenure.

According to official documents, show-cause notices have been issued to the accused, directing them to respond within 10 to 14 days. Failure to reply will result in unilateral punitive action, with the current evidence considered sufficient for disciplinary proceedings.

The inquiry was conducted by a committee headed by Mosaddiq Abbasi, Special Assistant on Anti-Corruption, which completed a detailed probe into corruption and administrative misconduct linked to medicine purchases.

On the committee’s recommendations, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has approved further action, including the recovery of Rs 171 million from each of the accused officials.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Advisor Ehtesham Ali vowed strict accountability, stating:

“Those who indulge in corruption will not be spared. These individuals will not only be removed from their posts but will also face recovery and possible legal action.”
