Assistant Commissioner of Tehsil Tamp, Muhammad Hanif Noorzai, has been abducted by the banned outfit Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) while en route to Quetta from Turbat, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
According to initial reports, the AC’s vehicle was intercepted by armed militants at Sreenkan, a volatile area in District Kech, on June 4, 2025.
The BLF has claimed responsibility for the abduction, confirming that Hanif Noorzai is in their custody.
In a statement issued to the media, the BLF spokesperson said that the operation was carried out based on intelligence from the organisation’s secret wing. Noorzai was reportedly taken along with his family, government-appointed guards, and driver.
However, in what the BLF called an act of "human and moral consideration," the spokesperson said Noorzai’s family, driver, and security personnel were released unharmed and sent back home with "full respect and security."
The assistant commissioner, meanwhile, has been handed over to the group’s investigative wing, and the BLF says it will announce its decision after internal interrogation is complete.
Issuing a veiled warning to the state, the spokesperson added,
“If any military or aggressive action is taken to recover the Assistant Commissioner, then the Pakistani state will bear full responsibility for any consequences.”
