Security forces on Tuesday thwarted a terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment and killed six terrorists while repulsing the attack.
According to security sources, terrorists tried to enter the Cantonment after Iftar, but the security forces took timely action and repulsed the attack.
The terrorists came in two explosive-laden vehicles and crashed the vehicles into the Cantonment’s walls. Security personnel deployed at various entry points of the Cantonment retaliated and neuteralised the terrorists.
The explosion damaged a nearby mosque and houses, resulting in injuries to 16 civilians. Also, there are reports of nine civilian casualties in the incident. Security forces have launched a clearance operation in the area.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz have condemned the terror attack on the Bannu Cantonment and paid rich tributes to the security forces for bravely repulsing the attack.
They offered their condolences to the families of the civilian martyrs and those injured in the attack. They prayed for speedy recovery of the injured people and assured their families of all help.
