In view of the fact that cellphones of the people living in the vicinity of jails in the province fail to catch signals, the Punjab government has started working on limiting the effectiveness of these jammers to jails only, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
In this regard, the jail department has tasked the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to together conduct a survey inside jails as well as in the adjoining areas and then prepare a report so that recommendations could be drafted in light of the report.
The jail department officials have said that thousands of complaints related to signal problem land at the PTA’s office.
On the other hand, they have pointed out, if the frequency of jammers is reduced then signals of cellphones start entering jails.
