Microsoft has announced sweeping price increases across its entire Xbox product lineup, impacting consoles, accessories, and even first-party game titles. The new pricing will take effect across multiple regions including the UK, North America, Europe, and Australia.

Starting with consoles, the Xbox Series S will see its recommended retail price rise from £250 / $300 / AU$500 to £300 / $380 / AU$550. The more powerful Xbox Series X is also getting a significant bump, increasing from £449 / $499 / AU$749 to £500 / $600 / AU$850. Additional models, such as the 512GB Series S, the discless Xbox Series X Digital, and the 2TB Xbox Series X, will also be affected.

Microsoft has noted that console availability may continue to vary by region and retailer, potentially indicating stock fluctuations reminiscent of the early pandemic-era shortages.

Accessories aren't spared from the hike either. The standard Xbox Wireless Controller will now retail for £60 / $65 / AU$100, up from its original price of £55 / $60 / AU$90. Additionally, official Xbox headsets—both wired and wireless—will also see price increases in the US and Canada.

Game prices are also on the rise. Microsoft confirmed that first-party titles could be priced as high as $80 by the holiday season, though international pricing details have not yet been disclosed.

The tech giant attributes the across-the-board price adjustments to “market conditions and the rising cost of development.” Analysts also suggest the increase is linked to the ongoing tariff situation affecting U.S. imports from China, where Xbox hardware is primarily manufactured.

Microsoft is not alone in this move. Sony recently announced similar price hikes for the PlayStation 5, citing economic pressures, while Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 has also drawn attention for its steep game prices.

The changes are expected to impact both new and current Xbox gamers, as the cost of entry and continued engagement with the platform becomes significantly higher.
