Cloudy weather accompanied by cold winds turned the atmosphere of the provincial metropolis pleasant on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the chances of rain over Lahore remain between 5 and 10 percent. The current temperature hovered between 26°C and 27°C. The mercury is expected to rise to a maximum of 31°C, with the minimum likely to touch 23°C later in the day.
Winds are currently blowing at a speed of five kilometres per hour, providing some relief from the earlier heat. However, air pollution remains a concern, as the city's Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 115, placing Lahore in third position globally for poor air quality.
Specific AQI readings include Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam at 65, Askari-10 at 80, Power Zone Head Office at 102, and Tufail Road at 105.
Meanwhile, the Met Office has issued a forecast of widespread rain and thunderstorms—with chances of hailstorm—for several parts of the country over the next 24 hours, including Punjab and Lahore.
Heavy rainfall with strong winds is predicted across districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, and Peshawar, among others.
Rain and thunderstorms are also likely in northern and central Punjab, particularly in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum.
The wet spell may stretch across cities including Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Narowal, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Multan, Layyah, and Bhakkar.
Further rainfall in Lahore has also been predicted today, prompting the district administration to issue an alert to ensure preparedness.
In contrast, most districts of Sindh are expected to remain extremely hot and dry, though strong winds and isolated rain are forecast in Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, and Larkana.
In Balochistan, rain is expected later in the evening in Zhob, Musakhel, Barkhan, and Quetta. Showers with strong winds may also hit Kalat, Sibi, and Khuzdar.
