The President of Pakistan has summoned a session of the National Assembly to be held on Monday at 5:00 PM, amid growing tensions between Pakistan and India.

The official notification for the session will be issued shortly by the National Assembly Secretariat, according to parliamentary sources.

Sources further revealed that the session will primarily focus on the current state of strained diplomatic relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

A significant part of the proceedings is expected to be a comprehensive discussion on India’s recent move to unilaterally suspend the Indus Waters Treaty — a decades-old water-sharing agreement brokered by the World Bank.

In response to this controversial action, it has been learned that the Pakistani government is preparing to table a strong condemnation resolution against India during the assembly proceedings.

Lawmakers are expected to voice concerns over the implications of India’s decision on regional peace and stability, as well as on Pakistan's water security.n
