Police in Rawalpindi have arrested an Indian national from the Westridge police station area and registered a case against him on an official complaint, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

According to the first information report (FIR), the suspect was seen heading towards Dhamiyaal when he turned back upon noticing the police near Chohar Chowk.

His behaviour raised suspicion, prompting officers to stop him and ask for identification documents. However, he was unable to produce any valid papers.

The report states that the man identified himself as Diler Mushtaq, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Sufi, and claimed that he was a resident of India.

Police said that two ballpoint pens and 1,750 Pakistani rupees were recovered from his possession during the search.

The FIR further states that the accused entered Pakistan through illegal means and was residing in the country unlawfully, thereby committing an offence under relevant laws.
