American Consul General Ms Kristin K Hawkins called on caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Lahore on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the meeting they discussed issues of mutual interest, cooperation in various sectors, especially to combat the ever-thickening smog.
They also discussed to enhance cooperation regarding investment opportunities, agriculture, tourism, restoration of historical buildings.
On the occasion Chief Minister Muhsin Naqvi said that Pakistan and America have excellent relations and we want to promote bilateral relations under the agreement to declare Punjab and California as sister states.
“We welcome the American cooperation regarding the restoration of historical buildings in Punjab”, said Mohsen Naqvi.
The CM said that we want technical support from friendly countries to combat with smog.
“Smog has increased in Lahore and other cities due to large-scale burning of crop residues in the neighboring country”, said Mohsen Naqvi.
He said smog emergency has been implemented in Punjab by declaring smog as a disaster and masks have been declared mandatory for the health of students in all schools.
“Every measure is being taken to reduce the smog that is humanly possible”, discussed Mohsin Naqvi.
In this regard American Consul General said that we will further promote cooperation with the Punjab government in various fields.
Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Aamir Mir, Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Chairman Planning and Development Board, Additional Chief Secretary Interior, Deputy Commissioner and related officials were also present on the occasion.
