Heavy rain and a powerful hailstorm wreaked havoc in Mingora and the surrounding areas of the Swat Valley on Tuesday, turning day into night as dark clouds and relentless downpours disrupted daily life across the valley, 24NewsHD TV reported.
According to details, winter weather has fully set in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the season’s first spell of snowfall and widespread rain bringing a sharp drop in temperatures.
The intense rain and hail blanketed parts of Swat in white, transforming roads into slippery carpets of ice-like hailstones.
The downpour, accompanied by thunder and lightning, created a stunning yet disruptive scene as several low-lying areas became waterlogged.
Locals described the hailstorm as one of the heaviest in recent years, while electricity and traffic in some parts were temporarily affected.
Similar weather was reported in Lower Dir, where heavy hail showers turned landscapes white, and in Buner, where thick clouds brought intense rain.
In Malakand, torrential rain left streets flooded, affecting vehicular movement in parts of the district.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) stated that the spell of rain began on the night of November 3 and is expected to continue through November 4 and 5.
The PMD forecast also includes snowfall in upper regions such as Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Mansehra, while light rain is likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Attock, and Jhelum.
Meanwhile, Islamabad and Rawalpindi also received rain accompanied by thunder, bringing a noticeable dip in temperatures.
The Met Office has advised farmers to exercise caution during crop harvesting and urged tourists to remain vigilant while traveling to snow-prone areas due to the risk of slippery roads and reduced visibility.
Additionally, the department warned of potential landslides in upper hilly regions during the ongoing wet spell.
