Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has achieved a landmark milestone in its digital transformation journey by successfully launching and implementing various online portals, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The PMDC has started online process of registration, issuance of certificates and verification online and entire process will be completed within 3 to 4 days. The online portals is aimed at transparency, efficiency and delivery of public services of the institution.
After the launch of the Registration Portal, Postgraduate Qualification Portal, Experience and Faculty Portal and MDCAT Portal, thousands of applications have been processed in a timely manner and now steps like registration, issuance of certificates and verification are being completed in just 3-4 days.
According to the details, 1,73,373 have been successfully disposed off out of 1,75,738 cases received since May 2024. These include full licenses, provisional licenses, certificates of good standing, postgraduate qualifications, renewals and other services.
7,438 have been completed out of 7,462 applications which were received for Teaching Experience Certificates, while 13,483 out of 13,884 cases for Faculty Registration were disposed of. The institution says that through the new system, candidates can now track their applications online, while unnecessary delays and the need for personal appearance have been eliminated.
The registration for the entrance exam through the MDCAT portal has also become transparent and easy, with online payment facility provided. Furthermore, the licensing system has been launched in regional offices in Lahore (Sheikh Zayed Medical Complex) and Karachi, after which doctors no longer need to go to Islamabad.
PMDC said the facilities like registration, license renewal, good standing certificates and record updates are being provided in these regional offices, while the prepared certificates are being sent through courier service.
According to President PMDC Professor Rizwan Taj, this digital innovation of the institution is an important step towards a transparent, reliable and fast regulatory process for medical and dental professionals. Rizwan Taj said that after Lahore and Karachi, this system will also be launched in Peshawar and Quetta in a phased manner.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council is a regulatory body responsible for maintaining the standards of medical and dental education and practice. The body approves medical and dental colleges, registers doctors, issues licenses and certificates, validates domestic and foreign degrees, conducts MDCAT exams, and monitors the professional ethics of doctors.
