Punjab government has decided to impose ban on use of wheat in feed mills and in this regard section 144 imposed to stop use of wheat in feed mills, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a meeting to review surge in wheat and flour prices in the province.
During the meeting, it was decided that strict measures will be taken to maintain the prices of wheat, flour and bread. The government has granted special powers to SDOs of Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) to curb wheat hoarding in the province.
The CM ordered action against those who increase the prices of flour and bread under the guise of floods. Price Control Magistrate were directed to immediately mobilized to stop wheat hoarding.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz made it clear that the price of bread should not increase by more than Rs 14 and the price of a 20 kg flour bag should not increase by more than Rs 1810. “Will never allow the prices of flour and bread to increase under the guise of floods”, Maryam Nawaz Sharif reiterated.
Meanwhile, on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the Food Department has issued a notification regarding the prices of bread and flour. Action will be taken against those selling 100 grams of bread for more than Rs 14 across the province, the notification said. A 10-kg bag of flour can be sold for up to Rs 905 while the price of a 20-kg bag of flour has been fixed at Rs 1,810. The prices of bread and flour will be implemented in every case, the spokesperson of the Price Control said.
