A woman known as 'Phoolan Devi' opened fire on her husband in a crowded street in Muridke, injuring a passing child and forcing other people to run for safety.
According to a report by 24NewsHD TV, the incident took place in the Mohammad Pura area of Muridke following a minor argument between the woman and her husband.
Police said the woman fired at her husband in the middle of the street. A passing child, identified as Hadi, was hit by a bullet and seriously injured.
Other people in the area reportedly fled when the shooting began, fearing for their lives. Police said the woman was arrested along with the weapon.
The injured child was initially taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) before being transferred to Mayo Hospital in Lahore for further treatment.
Police also said the woman was known in the neighbourhood by the nickname "Phoolan Devi" and was allegedly involved in frequent incidents of firing.
Police have begun proceedings on a complaint submitted by Munir, the injured child's father. Further investigation into the circumstances of the shooting is under way.
