Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (FM) Ishaq Dar on Sunday telephoned his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi and had a detailed exchange of views with him over the changing situation in the region, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the Foreign Office’s Spokesman Tahir Hussain Andrabi, Dar, on the occasion, renewed Pakistan’s commitment to support all initiatives aimed at defusing tension in the Gulf.
Dar also stressed the need for the resolution of all issues through negotiations.
Both leaders also decided to stay in touch with each other, informed Andrabi.
On Saturday, 24News TV channel reported that Dar had appreciated Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi for clarifying his country’s position on recent media reports.
In a post on social media platform X, Ishaq Dar thanked Abbas Araghchi for his clarification, describing him as a "Dear Brother."
Earlier, in a statement on his X handle, the Iranian Foreign Minister said Iran's position is being misrepresented by the US media and expressed deep gratitude to Pakistan for its diplomatic efforts.
He said, “We have never refused to go to Islamabad,” and emphasized that the priority remains achieving a conclusive and lasting end to the "illegal war" imposed on Iran.
Abbas Araghchi concluded his statement with the slogan "Pakistan Zindabad."
Meanwhile, Pakistan's Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi has termed the statement of the Iranian Foreign Minister a timely reminder.
In a post on X handle, he said speculation benefits no one. Clear and accurate information can only be obtained through official statements and verified media readouts.
