The Punjab Health Care Commission (PHC) claimed to have sealed 998 unlicensed medical centers across the province in a major crackdown against quack practitioners, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
According to a PHC spokesperson, PHC teams during the anti-quackery campaign conducted inspections at 3,860 centers, with 2,286 facilities identified for ongoing monitoring.
Across the province, 346 centers were found either closed, relocated, or repurposed for other businesses.
The largest operations took place in Lahore, where authorities inspected 645 centers and sealed 217 illegal facilities.
In Faisalabad, 239 inspections led to the closure of 62 centers, while in Khanewal, 52 quack facilities were shut down after 155 visits. Other major actions included the sealing of Sheikhupura (48), Kasur (47), Multan (46), Rawalpindi (39), and Gujranwala (37) centers.
In Bahawalpur, 36, Pakpattan, and Sargodha, 30 each, and 33 illegal centers were closed in Sialkot.
PHC Chief Executive Dr. Saqib Aziz said the crackdown is part of a broader strategy to protect the public from unsafe medical treatment.
“Only authorized and registered medical practitioners will be allowed to provide services. All centers will be re-inspected to ensure compliance,” he said.
