A nationwide weather alert has been issued warning of rain, strong winds, thunderstorms and hailstorms across multiple regions of Pakistan from April 6 to 10, with authorities urging citizens to take precautionary measures.
According to the forecast, widespread rain accompanied by thunder and gusty winds is expected in Islamabad and upper as well as central districts of Punjab between April 6 and 9. Cities including Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Lahore are likely to experience unstable weather conditions.
In southern Punjab, most areas are expected to remain dry; however, light rain and winds may occur at isolated locations on April 7 and 8.
In Balochistan, northern and western districts including Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Kalat and Turbat are forecast to receive rain with thunderstorms and hail between April 6 and 9. Coastal areas, including Gwadar, may also witness strong winds and rainfall.
Upper and central parts of Sindh are expected to receive rain and gusty winds on April 7 and 8. Cities such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Khairpur, Umarkot, Mithi and Badin are likely to be affected, while other areas may remain dry.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, most districts are expected to experience rain, wind, and hail from April 6 to 10, with an intensification of rainfall between April 7 and 9. Areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan and Dera Ismail Khan are expected to receive thunderstorms and lightning. Snowfall is also likely in upper mountainous regions.
Similarly, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir will experience rain, wind, and snowfall in higher altitudes from April 6 to 10. Areas such as Astore, Gilgit, Skardu, Diamer, Ghizer, Hunza, Nagar, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Haveli and Poonch are expected to be impacted.
Authorities have warned that strong winds, hail, and lightning could damage weak structures, uproot trees, and disrupt power supply. Snowfall in mountainous regions may also trigger landslides and hinder traffic flow.
Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, drive cautiously, and stay updated with official weather advisories. Tourists planning to visit northern areas have been urged to check weather and road conditions before travel.
