Ishaq Dar chairs high-level meeting on IT and telecom reforms to boost digital economy

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to accelerate reforms in Pakistan’s IT and telecom sectors, aimed at strengthening the country’s digital economy and attracting investment.

According to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the meeting focused on promoting innovation, enhancing digital infrastructure, and creating a more investor-friendly environment in the tech sector. The overarching goal is to modernise Pakistan’s digital landscape and foster sustainable economic growth through technology-driven initiatives.

The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Secretary IT, and the Director General of the Special Investment Facilitation Council. Senior officials from the Board of Investment, the Ministry of Commerce, and other relevant institutions were also present.

The participants emphasised the importance of coordinated efforts across departments to unlock the full potential of Pakistan’s IT sector and to position the country as a competitive player in the global digital economy.
