Two dacoits were shot dead and one was arrested in injured condition during three police encounters in Lahore, Pakpattan, and Faisalabad, reported 24NewsHD TV on Tuesday.
Crime Control Department (CCD) sources reported that the police encounter occurred near the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) City, located in Lahore.
Crime Control Department sources further revealed that the dead dacoit was identified as Abdul Muteeb.
CCD sources said that the firing of his companions killed the dacoit. The sources said that CCD was collecting criminal data of a dead dacoit.
The accused is likely to be a fourth accused involved in the Chung gang rape case.
In the second police encounter in Pakpattan, one dacoit was arrested in an injured condition, and his companion fled from the scene.
A police spokesman said that the encounter occurred in the village 48-SK near the jurisdiction of Chakbadi Police Station in Pakpattan.
The dacoits were riding on two motorcycles. During the police encounter, one dacoit, who was identified as Qaisar, received bullet injuries from the firing of his companions.
Police also recovered a motorcycle and a pistol from the possession of the dead dacoit and started a search operation to apprehend his companions.
The third police encounter took place near Mahi Shah graveyard, located in the jurisdiction of Jhang Bazar Police Station, Faisalabad.
According to the details, a Crime Control Department (CCD) team led by Incharge Lyallpur Division Siddique Cheema raided a location to arrest the accused.
After taking notice of the police party, the accused opened fire on the police team. During exchange of fire, one dacoit became seriously injured. He was identified as Nabeel alias Beli. When the firing was stopped, police found him in an injured dacoit. The accused escaped from the custody of Nishatabad Police yesterday.
The police immediately arrested the dacoit and rushed to the hospital, but he breathed his last on the way to the hospital.
Police said that the dead dacoit was nominated in more than 50 criminal cases, including dacoity and snatching. The accused was also involved in the gruesome murder of one Dolphin personnel, Akash in 2003.
