The post-mortem report of two girls who lost their lives while in Township Police Station custody will determine the real cause behind their mysterious deaths, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Police said that the girls died due to the use of an intoxicating drug. Police arrested both girls on August 4 at 2 pm.
Police further revealed that one woman was begging on a street in the Sector B area of the Township, Lahore
Police said that one woman asked for water during their entry at a house in a bid to perform spiritual healing and made off with golden rings.
Later, the other family member took away the golden rings and handed them over to police.
One dead accused, who was identified as Aamina, is also a criminal record holder and a resident of the Kharian district, Gujrat.
Police said that no one approached the police for the custody of the dead bodies. Police said that the absence of heirs of both girls is causing a delay in the investigation.
Earlier, on August 4, 2026, two female suspects died while being transferred from the Township Police Station in Lahore to a women's police station.
According to police, the women, identified as Anmol and Amina, were apprehended by members of the public on allegations of theft and fraud before being handed over to police.
A case was subsequently registered, and the suspects were placed in the custody of the investigation wing.
Police said the women were being shifted to the Women Police Station for further legal proceedings when they suddenly became unwell during the journey.
They were rushed to a nearby hospital but could not be revived.
The officials said that the exact cause of death would be determined after the post-mortem examination.
The bodies have been sent for autopsy, while police said a comprehensive inquiry is underway to examine the cause of death.
